Kings Place, London, N1 9AG

This show is for over 14's only. ID may be required at the door.
Description

Come and hear the touching story of love between musical siblings, Fanny Hensel and Felix Mendelssohn, told in music and words by Piatti Quartet, Resident at Kings Place. Two child prodigies joined not only by blood but by their unwavering companionship and musical synergy.

This intimate narrated programme uses letters, history and music to explore the influences and ultimate story of two musical siblings that changed the face of classical music.

The musical storytelling begins with Fanny’s only known attempt for string quartet, her E-flat major Quartet from 1834 which repurposed ideas from an unfinished piano sonata. Then, from experimentation to lamentation, Piatti perform Felix’s final Quartet in A minor from 1847, an elegy to his beloved sister following her early death earlier that same year, and written only two months before his own.
