Edinburgh International Festival: Philharmonia Orchestra Residency: Family Concert

Lothian Rd, Edinburgh, EH1 2EA

Description

Festival Director Nicola Benedetti performs a mesmerising violin solo in a classical programme that explores the animal kingdom!

Some of the world’s best classical music pieces are inspired by the animal kingdom. Ralph Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending is no exception; the soaring violin solo represents the movements of the skylark.

Children, and their grown-ups, are invited to encounter a classical programme that playfully explores how composers are drawn to portraying animals of all shapes and sizes in their music.
